Bridge Hunting

This wonderful state never ceases to amaze me.

I recently discovered that not far from home, in Cowley County, there are over 18 historic stone arch bridges.

Cowley County

What is even more fascinating is there are only around 1,700 stone arch bridges remaining in the United States.

So, of course I had to take a road trip to try to find some of these bridges!

Unfortunately, the bridge hunting did not go as expected. I was hoping to see more bridges than I did- but a lost GPS signal, road construction and large vehicles blocking the road, and getting a tiny bit lost 😉 limited the amount of bridges I saw.

I was able to make it to three bridges though. My plan is to go back again at some point to see more. But for now, here are the 3 bridges I was able to see.

The first bridge was Fromm Bridge. It was built in 1917.

The second bridge was the Neer Bridge. It was built in 1914.

The last bridge was the Stalter Bridge. It is unknown when this bridge was built. This one was the smallest bridge we saw but probably my favorite.

So amazing!!! Can't wait to go back and find more!
